EscoPDEcondido: Injunctions Ordered Against 29 Gang Members – Two court orders issued Friday and Monday bar 29 documented members of two Escondido gangs from congregating with other gang members or wearing gang clothing in two core neighborhoods. In these neighborhoods, they can’t publicly associate with other gang members, be under the influence of alcohol or drugs or drink in public, wear gang clothes, flash gang signs or act as lookouts to warn associates when police are around.

Safety zone 1 is roughly defined by Escondido Boulevard to the east, Lincoln Avenue to the north, Grand Avenue to the south and Midway to the east.

Safety zone 2 is bounded by Upas Street to the west, Grand Avenue to the north, Felicita Avenue to the south and Juniper Street to the east.

The injunctions, which mark the third round of court orders against Diablos and Westside gangsters, come amid a wave of recent violence, including a stabbing and two fatal shootings, that may represent back-and-forth attacks between the rival gangs. – NCTimes.com

Rays Tigers BaseballPadres Acquire Dusty Ryan From Detroit – The Padres announced in a press release the acquisition of catcher Dusty Ryan from the Detroit Tigers on Monday for cash or a player to be named later. Ryan – a career .257 hitter with two homers in 27 major league games – was immediately placed on the Padres’ 40-man roster and is the team’s second-most experienced catcher behind Nick Hundley. He hit .154 with four RBIs in 26 at-bats for Detroit last season.

Ryan, 25, hit 27 home runs over the past two seasons in the minor leagues for the Tigers’ organization. Baseball America describes Ryan as having “raw power” and a “plus-plus arm” but questionable receiving skills. Ryan has thrown out 44-of-142 attempted base stealers in the minors and has 54 passed balls in 407 games. – NCTimes.com
