Andy Irons, Professional Surfer And 3-Time World Champion Has Died

Andy Irons, a professional surfer and 3-time ASP World Champion has died at the age of 32.

Irons recently withdrew from the Rip Curl Pro Search currently taking place in Puerto Rico, citing an undisclosed illness. He was reportedly on his way back to his home in Hawaii, but too sick to make the flight from Dallas to Kauai. No further details have been released but unconfirmed reports are saying he passed away in his Dallas hotel room.

Irons returned to the World Tour this year after only participating in select events in 2009. He won the Billabong Pro Tahiti event in August and was beginning to show signs of the surfer who was so dominant in the 2000s.
