BP Sucks at Photoshop Too…

By Steve, July 20, 2010 2:47 pm

From Treehugger.com…
Oh man, this keeps getting better and better — can’t BP do something without lying or deceiving the public about it? How about something as simple as posting actual photos of its command center in Houston on the company website? Evidently not. No, a sharp-eyed blogger over at Americablog has uncovered that the company has photoshoped its command center. He quips, “I guess if you’re doing fake crisis response, you might as well fake a photo of the crisis response center.”
This really is sort of hilarious, and certainly weird. The AmericaBlog explains how it stumbled upon the strange blunder:

…..the meta info for the photo says it was created in 2001, not July 16, 2010 as claimed on BP’s site. It looks like BP took a photo from 2001, and in order to make it look like the command center in July of 2010, they pasted pictures of the oil well leaking over the old photo.

Penis cucumber saved from the chop…

By Steve, July 2, 2010 8:14 am

35-year-old Iren Harsca, from Esztergom, Hungary, said that when she got it back from the greengrocers she couldn’t bring herself to chop up the vegetable, which looks entertainingly like a set of male genitalia.
‘Then I realized what it was. It reminded me of my husband too much and I really love him, so I didn’t have the heart to cut it up,’ explained Iren.

World Cup Update: All the World’s a Stage

By seeoats, June 17, 2010 10:06 am

First round of group play wrapped up in horny South Africa with a mix of the expected, the predictable and the surprising. The expected included dominance from Germany and Holland, the predictable was a trademark Cristiano Ronaldo dive for Portugal and the surprises came in the form of upsets. Switzerland provided a bombshell with a gritty defensive performance versus favored Spain, while Ghana defeated Serbia to provide the only victory for the host continent. Argentina hammered 20 shots in a 1-0 win while the ever-efficient Japanese needed just 3 shots to win by the same. A number of teams slumbered to a slow start, with African squads leading the way of the hapless by scoring just two goals (one a PK) in 6 matches. Brazil disappointed despite winning and although Portugal and Italy avoided losses, they were as flat as 2 day old soda.

Team America drew versus England thanks to the heroics of keeper Tim Howard and the tomfoolery of his Limey counterpart. Slovenia jumped to the front of the group, upping the ante ahead of the Friday match-up with Team America.

Tournament officials passed on the opportunity to ban the vu-vu horns, something I was indifferent about until I woke with the noise in my head at 3am- in bed with no television. The other casualty of the din is the noise of the crowd. Even though the foreign lyrics are unintelligible, the rhythmic chants and songs add more ambiance than the steady buzz of the horns. Looks like we’re stuck with the most annoying background since the death of the sitcom laugh-track. Someone needs to tell FIFA that these aren’t the drones they’re looking for.

World Cup South Africa Update…

By Steve, June 11, 2010 5:51 pm

After the first day of the 2010 World Cup and all the pomp and circumstance, there was nothing that sorted out the direction that Group A will take with both games ending in draws. Uruguay, an underdog like South Africa was when it faced Mexico, is no doubt feeling better after playing to a scoreless draw with France. The French looked mostly listless and played with little togetherness, and one of its best players, Florent Malouda, came on late as a sub. Franck Ribery, the dynamic left winger who stars for Bayern Munich, started off creating chances down the flank — including one that Sidney Govou missed right in front of the goal. Then he was absent for most of the rest of the match. What was clear was how much France misses Zinedine Zidane as a playmaker in the middle. France will have to get it together soon. Its next match is with Mexico — and if there is a loser in that match, it could be on the verge of elimination.

Swasted Files: Slovenian Hockey & Carlsberg Beer

By Swasted, April 10, 2010 10:55 am

This week’s Swasted Files starts out with a trip overseas to a European country with a population of just over 2-million, Slovenia. Believe it or not, its not the first time the country has been mentioned on the pages of Swasted.com. Slovenia was previously mentioned when they were drawn into Group C with the United States, England and Algeria for the 2010 World Cup. However, this time the Central European country is in the news for ice hockey rather than football. Acroni Jesenice, coached by American Mike Posma, won their 3rd consecutive national league title last Saturday and the partyin started. As things winded down, a drunken 19-year old back-up goaltender was convinced by the coach that he was OK to drive. Well apparently he wasn’t and proceeded to crash his car and was taken into custody. This didn’t sit well with six of his hammered teammates and they went ahead and served the coach a beating with wooden traffic sticks they found on the side of the road. The 42-year-old New Jersey native was cut and bruised but not seriously injured and the six players involved have had their contracts terminated by the team. – ESPN.com

Our next stop on the Swasted Files takes us to Copenhagen, Denmark where brewery workers are up in arms. Carlsberg Brewery in enacting a new company policy that is not sitting well with its staff and caused many of them to walk-off their jobs in protest. Apparently, the Danish brewer is tightening up their previously lax drinking on the job rules. Beer coolers that were previously available to warehouse and production workers all day have been removed and staff is now only allowed to drink beer during their lunch breaks. Although the rules for the company’s truck drivers were not changed, that didn’t stop the drivers from joining the protest in support of their brothers. Rules for the drivers remain the same, they’re allowed to take 3 beers home since “they often don’t have time to have lunch there.” – Bottoms Up
