New York-born MC Guru has died at age 43 after a battle with cancer, according to a number of media reports.
Guru, whose real name was Keith Elam, had been in a coma since March.
The rapper was best known for his Gang Starr partnership with DJ Premier in the 1990s and 2000s. In recent years Guru had been touring and collaborating with producer Solar.

Club Anita’s in Escondido. The doors open at 9:00pm with $3 U-Call-It’s until 11. Domi Young will be performing as well as DJ sets from Escondido’s Dr. Parks and Brian E.

The streets of San Diego have been buzzing the last few weeks but now that buzz can be heard outside of San Diego County. Escondido’s own, D-Pain, has posted 4 tracks from his upcoming album, The Awakening, to his MySpace page, MySpace.com/thedpain. Over the weekend he eclipsed the 1,000,000 plays mark and is still going strong. Rumors are circulating about a record release party but no official details have been announced yet…stay tuned.
Suspect Arrested in Dane Williams Case
