MILWAUKEE — NASCAR team owner Jack Roush was in serious but stable condition after walking away from a plane crash in Wisconsin on Tuesday night. “There are injuries. Possible surgery,” Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith said in a text message to The Associated Press. “But he walked out of the plane.”
According to the EAA, the National Transportation Safety Board and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that two occupants on board were Roush and Brenda Stricklin of Plymouth, Mich.
“Each exited the aircraft following the accident,” the statement said. “Both were transported to local hospitals, with Roush in serious but stable condition and Strickland with non-life threatening injuries. The NTSB is leading the investigation into the accident.”
The Beechcraft Premier jet pancaked onto the runway and broke in half and no flames or smoke were seen, according to the aviation news website AVweb.com. Jason McDowell, an aviation photographer who was at the airport, tweeted a photo of team co-owner Jack Roush exiting the plane with a bloody face.
Just like Kevin and Joey, Kevin and Matt got together in the past. They bumped each other under caution at Pocono, and Kevin spun Matt afterward. Kevin wore the shirtto the next race so Kenseth didn’t beat the shit outta him.
In an unbelievable turn of events, former regional NASCAR driver James “Jimmy” Neal has been arrested for the third time in three weeks. Yikes, this dude needs some serious help.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said James Edward Neal was arrested Friday, hours after bailing out of jail on charges of attempting to rape a woman. Authorities said a bail bondsman who went to look for Neal saw methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his hotel.
Here’s the link to the story on his first arrest for the high speed chase…
And the second arrest for attempted rape and false imprisonment…
Watch out, Matt Kenseth! According to ESPN.com, Brian Deegan will be joining NTS Motorsports and begin his stock car development with hopes of joining the Sprint Cup circuit soon.
Deegan announced at Charlotte Motor Speedway that he will be joining the NTS Motorsports driver development program with the objective of moving through the ranks of NASCAR to Sprint Cup as quickly as possible. Deegan will become part of a two-car program that NTS fields, along with current driver Brennan Newberry.
Deegan, as usual, was very open about his view of this opportunity. “When NASCAR chairman Brian France told the world that NASCAR is a contact sport, we’re going to loosen it up, I’m not sure Mr. France knew what he was getting into. I took that as a personal invitation for guys like me. I love racing, I love going fast, I love pushing the limit and that’s what I’m going to bring to NASCAR. I have been designated as the General of the Metal Mulisha and so the Metal Mulisha army is going to march on NASCAR,” Deegan said.
When former regional NASCAR racer James “Jimmy” Neal was arrested last month after leading police on a high-speed chase, it was apparently no fluke. Neal was released from custody on Monday after spending two weeks in jail but was arrested again just hours later on attempted rape charges.
Neal allegedly went to the home of a woman and was arrested around 6 a.m. after deputies responded to a report of a man and woman fighting.
The 56-year-old San Clemente man complained of chest pains and was briefly hospitalized before being returned to jail. Bail was set at $1 million. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
One week after being hospitalized for blood clots in his legs and lungs, it was announced today that Brian Vickers will miss the rest of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
Casey Mears filled in for Brian Vickers last week, racing the #83 Red Bull Toyota to a 22nd place finish at Dover. Though no formal announcement has been made it is believed he will continue to drive for the remainder of the season with the possibility of bringing in a road course specialist for Sonoma and Watkins Glen.
Vickers was hospitalized with chest pains during a visit to Washington, D.C., last week. Further tests discovered the blood clots, and he sat out last weekend’s race at Dover.
Vickers said on Friday that after returning to North Carolina last Saturday, he had a recurrence of chest pains and was readmitted to the hospital for two nights.
Vickers says the decision was then made for him to sit out the rest of the season.
Best of luck to Brian Vickers during his recovery and I hope to see him back next year. Vickers himself vowed to be back next year, “I do expect to be back in the car next season, and to win the Daytona 500.”
Under different circumstances, one could say it was a dream come true. After nearly 30 minutes behind the wheel of his Chevy, James “Jimmy” Neal was in the lead. Although, it had been some time since he had found himself in this position, he seemed to be in control. The only thing that could get between him and the checkered flag would be some type of mechanical failure. Then it happened. The engine began to sputter and miss and Neal was forced to bring the car to a halt. Another DNF. Only instead of heading down pit road and into his stall with his anxious pit crew, Neal hung a right and exited the 805 south at La Jolla Village Drive.
You see, this was no dream and Neal wasn’t back racing at Ascot Park track in Gardena. This was the 805 freeway in San Diego and the cars Neal was in front of belonged to the California Highway Patrol. Just 30 minutes earlier around 3 a.m., an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy tried pulling over a black 2003 Corvette, on Interstate 5 just north of Avenida Pico in San Clemente, that was missing a front license plate. Rather than pulling over for the fix-it ticket, the driver proceeded to lead deputies on a chase south towards the San Diego County border. After entering San Diego County, the O.C. deputies were replaced by CHP officers. The chase continued down the 5 to the 805 reaching speeds up to 140 m.p.h. before Neal blew his engine and was forced to exit at La Jolla Village Drive.
“Jimmy Neal, a 3X NASCAR champion with a record of 11 victories in a row in 1981, has come back from battling alcoholism, put his life together, and went out to race again in 2008 after 21 years off the track.”
“3X NASCAR champion with a record 11 victories in a row…” may not be the most accurate portrayal of Neal and his racing career. In reality, Neal never won a national NASCAR race. Instead, Neal spent time in the early 80’s racing in regional NASCAR race series’ like Winston West and Southwest Tour. Neal retired from racing in the 80’s but returned in 2008 after 21 years away from racing.
On Tuesday, James Neal, 56, of San Clemente pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor evasion while driving recklessly and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years’ probation.
I fucking love this guy… Haha! The dood that originally posted this video, obviously not a NASCAR fan. It’s Jimmie Johnson, not Jimmy. Has his name not been in print enough throughout the last four seasons? I saw Jimmie’s interview. In regard to Kevin’s comments, he said “to hell with him…”
Harvick loses the draft on the final green-white-checkered allowing the Bif to push his old teammate to the finish line at the Daytona 500. Congrats to Jamie, but damn, pull it together bro. You’re wife and dad are watching. A stupid pothole and a bad final pit stop are in my opinion the reason Harvick doesn’t win his second Daytona 500. Lame!
